Copyright Information

Please do not use any of the material on Moon Songs for anything other than private, non-profit purposes. Use the scores all you want but please don't rip off anyone in any way. If you want to put up scores from Moon Songs on your website/s, go ahead. Just let me know and give credit where it's due.

I do not believe I am breaching copyright by publishing scores on Moon Songs, as I am not selling them, trading them or otherwise trying to rip off the publishers and/or The Smashing Pumpkins/Virgin Records. If Virgin Records or any other representatives of The Smashing Pumpkins wish for me to remove certain or all scores, I will. So far no way has asked me to do so.

A History of Moon Songs

Moon Songs has gone through various stages of development, and even as we speak changes are taking place. The first version of Moon Songs was uploaded in December of 1998...

I had been wanting to create a website. Not neccessarily about the Pumpkins, though that would have been preferable... :-) I somehow hit upon the idea of "Pumpkin Piano Music". At that time I didn't have any previous experience with building websites and in fact it is only just now that I'm getting into pure html. Anyway, that first version wasn't anything near perfect. I never told anyone that it existed except for a few members of Listessa. The site was small and had a few piano scores and not much else. Just one picture and some links (as far as I can remember). So anyway, in January 1999 I began reworking the website. This time, I had a name for the website... "Moon Songs." I announced the site to Listessa and the newsgroup, and put up a mailing list for information (the list is still running, click here to subscribe). I originally wanted to open the website on January 17 (my birthday) but my family went on holiday, and other things also got in the way. Eventually, version 3 or so of Moon Songs was launched on March 6. The site wasn't very good in terms of presentation. Things that are on Moon Songs today, like images, audio, Mike Garson information and Billy's piano, developed in the period from March - April. Then in April I stopped updating the website to work on a newer version...

At the beginning of May I uploaded Moon Songs again, to a new host (the current one, Adore Nation). After several revisions and format changes, Moon Songs moved into frames in October. This represented the change from using a web page program, into using pure html. That is, I wrote the pages myself instead of using Netscape Composer (as I had been doing since the start of Moon Songs).

Just recently, my host, Adore Nation announced it was closing down for good. I had to find a new host... Aaron Grant of Siva was very helpful and is now hosting Moon Songs.

Other Site Information

Some people have asked what fonts I use. The font that looks like Cobb (Billy's handwriting) is actually either Mayo or Mayonaise. You can download these fonts from all good Pumpkin websites.

Moon Songs utilizes frames and so you'll need a frames capable browser to view. If you're reading this now, you should be fine.
