Melvoin was hired in 1995 as touring keyboardist for the Mellon Collie world tour. In July 1996, Melvoin died from an overdose. Billy then enlisted Dennis Flemion to replace Melvoin.

Melvoin also appears on the Zero video, playing piano (anyone with a Zero still of him playing the piano, please contact me!).
